Chocolate Sour Cream Cake with Orange Glaze and Chocolate Ganache Frosting
Study for a large commissioned painting
Notes From My Kitchen and Painting Studio
I've been baking cakes lately and enjoying it immensely. At one time I was a serious pastry chef and professional baker. I raised my two daughters baking and selling cakes and pastries. I did the local food show decorating and did Barmitzva and wedding cakes. Great fun! When I cut back on teaching last month, I decided to do some baking as a sideline to fill my extra time. I love baking. it is a lovely form of art. Each Tuesday I make a batch of yeast bread to feed my family and share with a friend.
I've also been working on some study for a large commission. I ordered the canvas today so in a few weeks I'll be ready to begin. I love landscape commissions and this will be great fun because it is a tree painting.
I've been pitching in to help my son in law and daughter with the new baby, my grandson Ike. I've been cooking, cleaning and doing lots of laundry this week. I'll get a break next week and go to Big Talbot Island to rest and paint new scenery. I'm looking forward to the adventure.
