Some Ideas

Notes From My Marketing Chair

I work with several art consultants around the country. I really like working with them much better than showing in galleries , as they have a strictly commission policy, no consignment. The paintings are ordered, I get a deposit to pay for my expenses, and then a final payment after the paintings are installed. They are very easy to work with, very professional, and very nice people.

I've been thinking that I would like to work with more consultants in the future. I would also like to change my relationship with galleries by developing a wholesale partnership with them. Crafts people do that all the time. There is no reason painters can't too. I no longer see any advantage to consigning with galleries.

I decided to combine those ideas into a postcard mail out to galleries and art consultants inviting them to view my web site and consider my work. I ordered over sized post cards with a nice painting to have full impact visually. I will also send a few to interior designers as well.

I am using much more direct USPS mail this year than I have in years past. People do love a pretty post card. This will be my fourth mail out in 2012, so I am on schedule. I am trying to use a balance between email and postal mail, the best of both worlds.
