Do What I say, not what I do ;>)

Notes From the Mentoring Project

I'm very excited that the first Mentoring Project session will be next Saturday at 10 AM. I have to put some goodies together for breakfast and arrive early to make sure the studio is in good shape,. That will be easy, as I am a very clean studio person under normal circumstances.

The biggest problem for me will be not to pass on my bad habits to these new artists. I used to be a totally organized person but I'm not so good at this anymore. I have too much on my plate so organization goes out the window. I want to teach them to do as I say, not as I do, but that is a poor substitute for setting a good example for others. I am a very disciplined painter with good studio habits, but my office habits are poor. Obviously, this comes from my desire to be a good painter and my lack of interest in being a good secretary. Ohhh how I need an assistant!!

Hopefully they will not pick up my bad office habits.

That strikes such a cord. :) I usually stress that I have a bad habit but I know it's a bad habit and struggle to change it. Better that they start with good habits!

Amen Tina,
I don't want to pass on my flaws.
