Home for the Holiday

Notes From the Loft Studio

This week has been a nice break from the pre- holiday madness. We closed up the gallery/loft at 5:30, so I am cozy at home. Today I started another deep gallery wrap painting at the loft. It is a painting of the field next to my yard. I like it this time of year, so I try to do at least one painting each winter. I'm using my five color palette  for this one and a  cad lemon as my accent for the pine trees, just a tiny bit. I was realizing today how much I love to paint. I really do. The unknown adventure of putting a painting together, the challenge to improve little by little and to change and grow in technique is very exciting.

Tomorrow I need to unpack all of the supplies I bought during the mega sales from art supply companies. I have boxes sitting all over the place in my office and the painting studio. I don't think I'll need to buy anything but paint and canvas for most of 2012. I need to get started on the dreaded taxes too, so I may as well hang around the studio and the office and catch up on the boring part of being an artist.

Next week my students return and the following week I'll be hanging around painting waves again at New Smyrna Beach. All of the crazy schedule starts on Saturday again.
